Helsinki, Finland – Icareus has released an updated version of its EPG (Electronic Program Guide) Monitoring solution as part of the Icareus Playout platform. The new version expands monitoring capabilities to help broadcasters and TV operators maintain accurate and compliant schedule data across DVB and OTT services.
EPG quality is increasingly critical
As services such as catch-up TV, start-over TV, and extended EPGs become standard, the accuracy of schedule data plays a central role in viewer experience, content discovery, ad delivery, and regulatory compliance. Missing or inconsistent metadata can directly affect service reliability and audience trust.
The latest release extends Icareus Monitor’s DVB and OTT monitoring capabilities with full visibility into EIT Schedule tables. This enables operators to detect and resolve schedule-related issues before they affect viewers.
Key capabilities include:
- Continuous monitoring of EIT Schedule tables (DVB-SI), alongside EIT Present/Followin
- Validation of schedule consistency and timing accuracy
- Detection of missing, duplicated, or overlapping events
- Verification of descriptor integrity and metadata completeness
- Monitoring of multi-day schedule population
- Automated alerts for schedule anomalies
- Support for DVB standards compliance
The Icareus Playout Platform
The EPG Monitoring Solution is integral part of the Icareus Playout platform, which already offers comprehensive broadcast management tools for PSI/SI, datacasting, HbbTV and over-the-air updates.
“Accurate schedule data is fundamental to modern TV services,” said Mikko Karppinen, director of Icareus. “By expanding EIT Schedule monitoring within Icareus Playout, we give operators better visibility and control over their broadcast metadata workflows.”
